It's been a long time since my family went to Disney World. Before I lived in MN I didn't understand why families went out of town in the winter. We just didn't have that in Washington. After being here in MN for several years and enduring these loooong winters, I finally understood!
If memory serves me correctly, we've been to Disney World 2x in the past 10 yrs. What an amazing experience. I'm so thankful my kids were never afraid of the characters! It was so fun watching them go up to any one of them and ask for an autograph and have me take their pictures.
We've always gone with the extended family: aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. We definitely did the Hopper passes which allow you to from one World to the next. We would do Disney for a couple days, take a break and do it again for another 2 days. The memories we have are priceless. I had Doodle's first hair cut at Magic Kingdom. He got Mickey Ears that said "First Hair Cut" on the back!! It was so awesome! And if you can, have at least one Dining Experience. That was such a great time with the characters! Get a FastPass for rides you really want to ride so you know for sure you get to ride. This is especially a great idea for a packed World! Can I tell you the coolest thing that happened to us while we were there? My family got to "open" Disney World!! Usually they already have a family picked out to "open" the park, but for some reason these people didn't show up. I had gotten this tip from a gal who was a Destination Planner. I went up to one of the people who watched the gates and asked them if we could open the parks. After about 10 minutes, they came and got us! How awesome is that? Something not everyone has a chance to do!! Oh, and when you go to ride the tram, get in line where the driver is. They actually let people ride up there. We did it a few times. So much fun and a great view (awesome photo ops!)
I think the most important aspect of visting Disney World is to have a plan, but be flexible. I was the world "planner". Know what rides you want to go on and if you can all go (depending on height). What shows do you want to catch if any? Which rides allow the parents to take turns? I got my Disney travel books from the library and made lists of how to do things. They have amazing short cuts and ideas to make vi sting Disney a more fulfilling experience. If you use DestinationsinFlorida.com, get tips from them! They've been doing this long enough to have some great ideas! That's what they're there for.
Are you thinking about getting away from the winter doldrums and having a fantastic time? Then head to DestinationsinFlorida.com. They have some fantastic deals for families who want to head south and have a fun vacation! Doesn't a Disney Beach Vacation sound divine right about now?

Do you cross-country ski? That's what made me love MN winters.
Linda, I was a Girl Scout leader when my girls were younger and one time when we went to camp I went cross country skiing. I actually liked it, but haven't done it again. I've never had the funds for all the gear. It's be awesome if I did. :)

Wow, your post makes me want to go right now! How lucky and fun that your family got to open DisneyWorld!
We took the boys to DisneyWorld when they were 8 and 6 and had a similar "lucky" experience. It was during a hurricane and the park was not packed and we got to eat breakfast at Cinderella's Castle because of cancellations.
We've been to DisneyWorld twice with the kids and twice without! :) It's my favorite place to go ever!
My family went when I was 5. Though I don't remeber much of the trip I do remember by baby brother getting his first haircut there. And we have lots of greats photos to look back on. My daughter turns five this May and we plan on taking her next winter! I can't wait.

My family loves to visit Disney World. We try to go at least once every two years. My daughter was picked to say the Pledge of Allegiance at the flag retiring ceremony at the end of one of our days. Quite an honor. We are redecorating one dd's room in Disney paraphanelia and this would be perfect.
thanks for this giveaway! yes, we've been to Disney world, last time was May 2008 to celebrate my and my 2 year old daughters birthdays-it was a great time and I can not wait to go back-probably some time in 2011

We go a few times a year. I live very close to DW so it's convenient and a lot of fun, especially for my 20m old. I know he is too young to remember, but I love seeing his face light up when he seeks Mickey! :)

We went to Disney World the first year that it was open in 1971 and then every four years starting in 1988. Mom and Dad would take all six kids, their spouses, and the grandchildren. Mom passed away in 2002. We tried going in 2005 over the Christmas holidays, but it just wasn't the same any more without Mom. I hope someday to go back to Disney World and take my grandson for his first visit.
Thank you,
Christine

We've never been to Disney, but the kids playroom is decorated with vintage Disney posters. These prints would be a great addition!

I'm a Disneyaholic and have been so many times I can't give you a number. We love Wilderness Lodge for it's beauty and location to everything. My goal each trip it to find my fave Tigger and get a new picture with him. thanks for the chance.

We haven't been to Disney World in years. The last time we went my 10yr old son was 2. My youngest has never been. This would be such a dream vacation for us!
I went there a bunch of times when I was a kid, but haven't been there in years!

The one and only time I have been to Disney World was when I was a kid in 1974, it was a vacation planned with 2 sets of families/relatives, but then my daddy passed away unexpectedly and everyone thought we needed to go on and take the trip and I loved it, I was just a little girl, but I have been wanting to go again ever since. I know they have so much to do and see now, it would be a wonderful family vacation. We are all avid collectors of Tinkerbell, Mickey and the rest. This would be wonderful to have.
Oh by the way sorry Tinkerbell641 at gmail dot com My comment was accidently without my email address

My daughter was lucky enough to win a trip for 4 to Disney World through a website called verbnow when she was 10 (she DID have a hard time, though, as the choice was between the trip and a complete skateboard package including ramps and jumps). The stay was for 5 days and 4 nights (which, as it turned out, really isn't enough time to totally enjoy all of the attractions of Orlando). We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana and I used the tickets for my daughters and myself. My older daughter's bf bought his own flight ticket and my bf bought his own flight ticket. The resort itself was great, with numerous pools and activities and whirlpools and themed cabana areas. We were in a 3 bedroom suite with a balcony and a step-in shower and Jacuzzi. My older daughter took the youngest to Universal Orlando one day; we took her to Disneyworld the next. I cautioned my bf, "I don't care if she goes running and screaming and doing cartwheels down the thoroughfare; this is HER day and unless she is doing something dangerous, just let her do it!" It was a wonderful time. I can't wait to go again before my youngest (who is now nine) grows up. The daughter who won the trip is just one year away from college now, and she STILL talks about how much fun it was!

I'm lucky enough to have married a Disney fan. I have been there 3 times: Once my senior year of high school, once with my now-husband after college graduation, and once on a short budget-friendly honeymoon, where we were treated royally.
