Hoarders DVD Review & GIVEAWAY

Hoarders About the DVD

Take a fascinating look inside the lives of people whose inability to part with their belongings is so out of control that they are on the verge of a personal crisis.

Whether they're facing eviction, the loss of their children, jail time, or divorce, these hoarders are desperately in need of help. In each 60-minute episode of Hoarders, A&E follows two people struggling to overcome their compulsive behavior while experts work to put them on the road to recovery. For some, throwing away even the tiniest possession a sponge, a button, an empty box is so painful that they won t be able to complete the cleaning process...no matter the consequences. For others, professional help and an organizer's guidance give them the strength to recover. At the end of each episode find out who has been able to keep their hoarding behavior at bay and who, despite help, is still lost inside this painful disease.

My Review

Ok, so I’m guessing we all know someone who has a hard time parting with just about anything. I’m wondering if it’s on the scale of the people featured in Hoarders by A&E.

I was astonished to see the conditions of some of the homes that these hoarders live in. I’m not a neat-nick by ANY stretch of the imagination, but my messiness doesn’t even scratch the surface of what these individuals and families go through.

I found the psychology of the hoarders very interesting. Their emotional attachments to trash was striking to me! Not having the ability to throw away hundreds of empty water bottles, decaying food, or pet droppings piled up over the years has left these homes often times unlivable.

You will be fascinated by the people they feature on Hoarders, if you’ve never seen it before. The organizers and psychiatrists who come in really have a desire to help these people. It seemed to me that they weren’t able to accomplish much because of how deep these families were in their hoarding. It’s a good thing they offer help after the show as well.

It is hard to watch some of the hoarders struggle with their decisions. My heart just broke for some of them because they couldn’t let go of their hoarding even if it was good for them.

  2. I hoard baby clothes! I have three boys but long before I had children, I bought baby clothes that were inexpensive and cute. I've continued to do that as we had children. Now that we are done, I'm finding I have a very difficult time getting rid of much of the clothing ;(

  24. I have a pretty big yarn stash for my knitting (but still small by many knitter's standards) - but I've resolved to not buy more, no matter how much a good yarn sale calls to me, until I've finished some of my WIP'S (works in progress)
