I’m not sure if you and your family runs into drama at dinner time or if it’s only me. The first thing that happens when I start dinner is my boys want to know what we’re having. Not just out of curiosity, but because they are going to try to figure out if they’re going to like dinner or not.Thankfully when we have Barber Foods Seasoned Selects the drama is at a dull roar. The complaints typically come from the side dishes.
So, what kind of drama am I talking about? Not the fun and amusing kind. More like my 7you throwing up because he’s thought about the food in front of him for so long he’s psyched himself out.
When I decided to make the Simple & Delicious Angel Hair Pasta featured as a side dish at Barber Foods, I figured there’d be drama involved. Guess what? There wasn’t. My 11yo isn’t a noodle eater so I didn’t even offer it to him, but my 7yo, the puker, scooped a spoonful onto his plate. To say I cringed would be putting it mildly.
I mean, hello, it had tomatoes and spinach in it!! Green and red colors in noodles. This was not going to go well. frozen, cooked, and eaten
Get this, the puker ate it ALL. Ok, he neglected to scoop up the tomatoes, but he ate the spinach with NO drama! I kept telling him how proud I was of him with every bite I took. My boys are starting to see that if they try something and don’t like it, that’s ok. It’s the fact that they even try something that makes the difference.
Check out Barber Foods recipes section of the site for a complete list of succulent side dishes and sauces here: http://bit.ly/aLqEKY
*As a side note, these make fantastic meals for college students. My daughter can take them out of the box and stick them in her little mini-fridge freezer.

Our last minute dinner drama is usually just that... we need dinner and there's not even time for delivery pizza. Ramen noodles and cottage cheese is just wrong.

Not a lot of drama at my house but always a struggle to get something on the table in a hurry. I often resort to breakfast for dinner to get something hot and quick out before everyone has to go off to evening activities.

My worst has been dropping spaghetti into the sink and having to come up with another dinner!

My last-minute dinner drama would have to be anytime I make a salad to start dinner. No matter what ingredients I add or what type of dressing I make, someone always complains about having to eat salad! How I've gotten around it is to make this dreaded meal starter more fun by letting the kids pick their own ingredients and help make their own dressing. Thanks!

The dinner drama I had was whenI was young and mother was making dinner. At the last minute my brother invited his best friend over to eat. We were having a dish made with cabbage and my brothers friend was trying to be polite so when my mother kept telling to eat more,, he obliged but after a frew bites, he clearly didn't ilke the cabbage and promply threw it up all over his dinner plate

My drama is with my son when I serve something new. He's afraid to try it.
I cooked fish for dinner not knowing they had the same thing for lunch today.

One of our dinner dramas was when we realized - after the fact - that our daughter had used garlic-flavored non-stick spray to coat the pan she made brownies in. LOL!

My daughter is currently stage managing 2 shows. So I pick her up at school at 5:00, we get home around 5:20, and she has to leave for the next show at 5:30. That's a 10 minute window for me to cook/serve and her to eat! Talk about daily drama!

I am very fond of heating frozen dinners in the microwave. Hard to believe one can mess up there, right? Well hit the keypad to cook for 6 minutes and add an extra 0 accidentally, and you end up with a charred dinner after you realize it's been an awfully long time without the microwave telling me dinner was done! Fortunately there's always more frozen dinners in the freezer so I just cooked another, and was very careful setting the cooking time!
Thanks for the giveaway!

I once made homemade pizza and it wasn't until they were all rolled out and topped that I remembered that my oven was broken. I cut them into quarters and cooked them on my George Foreman 360 grill. Messy, but turned out edible.

My biggest dinner drama was when I was a kid and mom had left me a note for when I got home from school to put the dinner 'on the stove'. My grandparents were coming and mom and dad were at work and she had put a roast and veggies in a large Pyrex casserole. I followed instructions and put it ON the BURNER on the stove and blew it up. Literally.

My biggest last minute drama is starting to make a recipe for dinner and then realizing that I don't have all the ingredients. I hate that!

Thanks for the giveaway...thankfully, our kids are pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new foods: so far they have "expressed" a strong dislike for brussel sprouts, peas, and veal...I concur on the brussel sprouts, but my wife loves them !

You mean like the time I was making tuna casserole, realized I was out of tuna and used sardines instead? Bad idea. Don't try this at home.
Thanks for the contest.
I planned on making tacos for a quick dinner without any backup. While cooking the beef I put too much salt into it. It wasn't edible. garrettsambo@aol.com
