About the Book
In Soccer World: Spain, Ethan continues his around-the-world adventures with his young friend Javier in Spain, as they explore the country that proudly won the 2010 FIFA World Cup. From watching an amazing game between world class rivals Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona, to exploring island volcanic landscapes, to witnessing the many fiestas that are celebrated there, Ethan and readers experience the real Spain and its multicultural history.
Activities include learning a phrase in each of the different languages that Spain recognizes, to creating a time capsule unique to a family's culture and era.
Soccer World: Spain serves as a perfect way to get kids excited about learning, both on and off the field.
Nomad Press announces the release of the third title in the exciting Soccer World series. This series is a great way for kids ages 7-10, to join real-life professional soccer player Ethan Zohn in his adventures as he travels around the world. In each country he visits, Ethan interacts with local young soccer players while he explores the geography, history, and culture of the region encouraging readers to share his own passion for discovery.
My Review
Soccer World: Spain came at the perfect time, Doodle was just beginning soccer. Right after that Buddy started with his soccer class. That factor makes this book even more fun to read!
We learned so many things about the country of Spain! I told him how I had lived on the island of Mallorca my 9th grade year. I was even able to say some of the Spanish words appropriately so sharing them with Doodle was fun! Ethan and Javier share their experiences learning about the Spanish culture in their travels to Madrid, Palos de la Frontera, and the Rock of Gilbraltar.
I love that these books are fun and educational! They use big words like “democracy, Phoenicians, essence, etc” and define them for the readers. So cool that they treat the kids like they are smart!
In each of the Soccer World books, there are great activities such as:
- Designing a flag for a new community you create
- Making a time capsule
- Rock art
Those are just a few examples from this new book. Last time when Doodle and I reviewed Soccer World: Mexico we made salsa. Unfortunately we’ve been so busy lately, we haven’t gotten to do any of the new activities.
*Because my blog is a Christian blog, I feel it’s necessary to share that Soccer World: Spain does discuss Tarot Cards very briefly.
