I had to go to Target because needed to find something to wear to my daughter’s graduation party, the boys desperately need summer clothing, and it’s time for us to upgrade their bedding!
Most of the bedding we have for them is what they’ve been using for about 5+ yrs. They’re moving into teenage and tweenage hood and they are ready to move past the Noah’s Ark theme. I know, poor boys!
Often times when I get to my local Target I say “hi” to Tom, the brother of a friend of mine. He’s one of the guys who grabs all the carts. He’s always delightful to see.
From there I headed to the boys clothing trying to find some shorts they might like. I’m totally thrifty and will save where I can. I always head to their clearance racks to see if I can find a bargain! I found a few shirts for the boys. Still need to figure out what to do about shorts.
I found the bedding and dreamed about what I’d get myself first if I could get some “mom” bedding. I love the thought of some new sheets and comforters. Some bright and airy new sheets are just what this mama needs!
The next aisle is more of what I was looking for. It was geared towards boys! One of the things I noticed though, was that there was only the Shaun White series that was more for tween/teen boys. The other selections they had were dinosaur themed and car themed. So, that didn’t give me a lot of options for my almost 13yr old son.
And do you see all those awesome sale tags! I felt like I’d hit the mother load with all the sale prices!
How do you know when you should start upgrading your kids to an older style whether it’s in bedding or clothing? Do you wait for them to speak up or do you just do it on your own?

My children are so young- i would like to thing I would let them choose on their own and ask when ready...who knows..one day at a time, right? I love the style and products you got!
ReplyDeleteYou found great sheets! Isn't it funny that we can never be accurate in our decisions?!
ReplyDeleteI have a Trekkie at home, my Husband, so I can relate to the never growing out of it thing! I wish I had a girl because, like you pointed out, they have so much more to choose from in everything!
ReplyDeleteAdorable bedding! I absolutely LOVE shopping at Target! :)
ReplyDeleteJDaniel would love the Star Wars sheets!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Target! They seriously have everything you need! Our last 3 sets of sheets are form there. Also, that car bed is awesome!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun trip of shopping! I wish our son slept in his bed, because it's getting crowded in ours.
ReplyDeleteI love what kind of shopping you do. Although I don't have any kids and wouldn't be buying single sheets unless I kick my husband out, lol, I really like your selection!
ReplyDeleteOh, Mimi! You've tugged at my heart strings! My son will be 13 in *counting on fingers* 18 days. We MUST network! I'm going to need a pal! My son actually graduated from a bunk bed to a stylish futon (from Target) several years ago. He's now ready for a real bed!! He loves Shaun White, but I would also be faced with the same ordeal.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I do hear Star Wars fanatics will always be just that regardless of age.
At any rate, I know we have a few networks in common. We MUST keep in touch through this "journey" into teen years. I hear boys are a lot different than girls!
i think my husband would sleep on star wars sheets if they came in king. they NEVER outgrow that. ever. i won't lie, if i found cool snoopy sheets that fit my bed i'd probably get them. :o)
ReplyDeletei love when target has sales like that!! we're all about superheroes with my son right now and i saw lots of spiderman goodies in your shots!!
I should totally get those for the guest bed for when my son visits. He would crack up and secretly love them!
ReplyDeleteI think it really depends on the kid. My boys actually all preferred the plain color sets we got them last year. I was surprised because usually we got them character sets, but they were so excited by the plain colors. They're all 8 and under. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI do think boys get the short end of the stick when it comes to clothing and other stuff- girls just have so many more options!
I was just at Target today and saw ALL of these same things! LOL! My 7 year old is BEGGING for the Star Wars sheets. But he has a double bed and I only saw them in twin. :(
ReplyDeleteMy son really likes outer space themed bedding. A few years ago he wanted Spiderman, but since then he wants planets, stars, etc., and I like them because it's easy to mix and match many different types.
