My ex husband’s family has a yearly tradition of meeting up north at Great Gram’s house for a week over the 4th of July. It’s something they’ve done for years and allows the cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents to catch up.
I took my boys up last Monday and they stayed there with the extended family and I went up to join them on Friday. It was such a great time with them. Having not grown up with any extended family, I soak in this time as much as I can.
The kids had spent a ton of time down at the lake shore swimming, fishing and building an awesome sandcastle!
Dinner came around and I surprised them with 5 Tombstone pizzas!! To say they were excited is to put it mildly. There were 15 people up there, so that’s a lot of mouths to feed!
There’s always something to do. Playing dominoes, cards, board games, playing in Grams hidden cubbies, etc. Truly the fun is limitless up there.
The first time I only cooked one pizza and with lots of hungry kids, the next time I stuck in two! Thank goodness both fit. Pizza number one was gone within moments of hitting the table.
The next 4 came out in glorious fashion, literally to “oooohs and ahhhhhs”. lol It was pretty amusing. You’d think they’d never had pizza before. I was most excited for the last one, which was the Garlic Pepperoni.
Needless to say, we blew through all 5 pizzas in no time flat.
After dinner, as is their custom, they had dessert! lol Something I’m still not used to. So, surprise, Aunt Mimi brought up 2 boxes of Nestle drumsticks.
This family lives enjoys summer fun down at the lake pretty much the whole time we’re up at Grams so we headed down there for our ice cream treats! It was perfect timing as the sun was setting and the day was finally cooling off!
We’re also a family who loves taking pictures of the kids. Summer and Christmas are the only times we can have all the younger cousins together so all the moms pull out their cameras and we snap until the kids melt down or start acting insane. Of course, both happen on a regular basis so sometimes it’s hard to figure out if it’s the picture taking or just life in general.
So, not only do the moms have ideas of how we want to take pictures:

Is this what a family reunion is like for you? lol Please tell me the insanity doesn’t only reside with this group.
Make sure you visit Walmart (my home away from home) and grab a selection of their Tombstone Pizza and Nestle Drumsticks. Be sure to Visit Nestle and Tombstone on Facebook!! That way you can keep up with all of their yummy goodness!
