How has it been a week already since Mama Kat’s last writing prompt? Sometimes I see some of her prompts and I’m chomping at the bit to answer them, others I know I’m not ready to put into a post. Then there are some, like this weeks that I’m not really sure what to say about any of them.
So, I figured I would talk about what it was like when I was younger. Because it has something to do with our future.
When I was younger, we used to move all the time. =/ And I do mean ALL. The. Time.

My parents divorced when I was 6 and my mom moved myself and my brother from Virginia to Colorado. We moved a lot while we lived there:- Boulder
- Longmont
- Westminster
- Erie

I decided my 9th grade year to go live overseas in Spain because my dad at that time lived overseas working for the government. I know, sounds amazing, right? Well, it was, don’t get me wrong. I was 14 though and I didn’t understand the opportunity that I was living.I came home and lived at home until I graduated. It was the longest we’d lived anywhere. We lived in the same house 3 glorious years. Then my parents decided to move to Virginia. No way, I wasn’t moving away from friends. I stayed in Washington, but actually ended up moving quite a bit.
Finally, I finally moved to Minnesota and lived in the same house for 8 yrs. It was so amazing to be so rooted in one place. We ended up having to move, but it was only a few miles away. Nothing changed other than the house. Kids still went to the same school.

Did you move a lot as a kid? Was as it as hard for you as it was for me when I was younger?
(I’d love to share some real life pictures, but I really don’t have any from my childhood. I’ve made up for it in spades with my own kids! HA!)
Writing Prompts:
1.) Tell us about the moment you knew your spouse was “The One”. I can’t wait to tell this story!2.) Write something that begins and ends with the words “When I was younger”. (inspired by writingfix.com)
3.) We’re too old to be getting in trouble…aren’t we? Write about a time you were scolded…as an adult. Scold ME? For real? lol
4.) Write a poem from the perspective of your child’s favorite toy. I don’t think so!
5.) Who do you have to thank? Following Jimmy Fallon’s famous thank you note writing style, write or vlog a list of 10 thank you cards you’d like to write this week. I’m not brilliant enough for this.

I moved when 5 I was five, but still in the same state, just 2 hours away. The at 20 my family moved from Louisiana to TN, and I went with them. My husband and I lived in Biloxi for 6 months than we moved back to Memphis.
Yeah we moved a lot but never in the middle of a school year. My parents always waited until the summer time. The two times that we did move during the school year we didn't have to change schools so it wasn't a big deal.
I lived in the same house growing up, one which my brother bought and redid and now he is moving. I live two streets away, now and it took me eight moves to get there. I want to stay put now :)
I never moved as a child, but once I hit college, I started moving. I've moved 18 times since. Sick, huh? Especially since I'm not done.
What a great idea! I think I just might!
Wow, I was in the same place for 16 years but moved this year from NJ to MA and my almost six-year-old is very unhappy about it. Unfortunately we are probably going to move again next year but hopefully this will be the last for awhile. It will be three schools in three years for my poor little guy.
Wow! My parents still live in the same house they lived in when I was born! My kids are on their 4th. We've been here 5 years and that's the longest I've lived in once place since I moved out of my parents'
Mimi,
I lived in the same house, in the same neighborhood, in the same city my entire school life. My parents wanted to make sure i didn't move around during that time of my life. I actually didn't move away until I was almost 26. We moved to Kansas City (to a real city as i call it now) We moved back to our home town a little over two years ago. I do miss the bigger city and often think we made a mistake moving back to a small town. I refuse to live with regrets though and will live each day to the fullest!
