He finally has one. It’s his sister’s old one, but after being on the phone for an hour he has a working phone. This is one happy kid! How old was your kid when they first got a phone? He’s 13! Make sure you check out Full Time Mama as well!
Well my kiddos are too little for phones.... 4, 2, and 2 weeks, hehe.... but I got my first when I turned 18!! However, this seems like a great debate topic for Friendly Debates with the Danielles. :) I bet he is one happy boy!
The first time my kids got phones it was because they were going to be home alone in the early morning before school. They were 12, 11, 9. Then when the school year was over we took the phones. The next time they got phones because of a lot of after school activities they were 14, 13, and 11. I think it's okay as long as we set boundaries.
I'm clearly a late bloomer or I'm old. I had a beeper in HS and a cell phone at 24. I was late to the cell phone scene though. I hate how much they cost. Our 11 year old will get one around the same age. More for me then him (gps!).
Mine is only 2 and while she loves to play with mine, it will be a long time before she has her own (hopefully)! I still remember back in college when I didn't even have one....
No phones for my kids, they are 8, 4, and 3, but plenty of other electronics for them to fiddle with. I'm linking up and a new follower. Happy Wednesday!
My older four had to get their own cell phones. My last two, well...D got his last year (13) because his cousin got it for him for Christmas. I did not feel he was ready. I don't really think it has to do with 'age' as much as 'maturity'. I think my 11 yr old is more ready now than my older son was!
I got my first cell phone when I turned eighteen and it was a huge deal. They had just started getting really afordable to the common man. Unfortunately I still found a way to have a rediculously high phone bill. I have no idea at what age my boys will get one. Thankfully I have a while yet to decide.
oh look at him! I am sure that will be a common scene in your house now! My oldest son got one when he was about 10...I sometimes think that was too early but there was a need so we went ahead and got it.
It's amazing what kids do these days with there phones. He looks very entertain, I invite you to come and linkup via our HOP: http://www.craftyspices.com/others/blog-hops/wordless-wednesday-hop/96-wordless-wendsday-hop4
Mine were probably 9th grade, I'm thinking. Fortunately, kids realize how important those are and they don't lose them very much!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have my first cell phone until I was 16. I think when my daughter start school we'll give her one for emergencies =)
ReplyDeletemine doesnt have his own phone yet - but he's only 5. My ex MIL was asking when I was going to get him one though... :-O

I'm thinking my kids will probably be around the same age when they get a phone. Either that or when they start driving (16)

Awesome!! Tell him congrats and use it wisely ;)
ReplyDeleteMine dont have them. They are 8 and almost 10...still too young IMO. I'm all about recycling old ones, though!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are 10 & 12 years old. They won't be getting a phone anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteOur kids got cell phones when they got their driver's licenses. We needed to be able to stay in touch with them at that point.
