Starbucks.
Just that one word makes me smile. Even though I’ve lived a lot of places, I say I’m from Seattle, home of Starbucks.
When I had been at Walmart a couple of weeks ago in the bakery department buying my boys donuts for breakfast, I noticed they had a Starbucks display of coffee over the case. Works for me since coffee pairs well with any pastries!
Then this past weekend I knew I needed to start thinking about Black Friday shopping because that’s what I love doing the morning after Thanksgiving! I’ve done it for years! The girls and I always have Starbucks after we get through one or two of the stores and have a pastry with it.
This year I’m going to start the wee hours of the morning off at home with a cup of Starbucks Breaksfast Blend Coffee. I grabbed some Lemon Poppy seed muffins and some chocolate chip ones to start the day off!
Since I’m not one to be known for having patience, I decided to break into the coffee and muffins…you know, for some taste testing. I usually go with the Blonde roast because I like the lighter coffee. Not having had the Breakfast Blend before I was interested in seeing what it tasted like black before I added my typical creamer.
Let me state for the record, this is the first time I can remember enjoying coffee black…ever! If you can read the sign above, it said it blends well with nut, apple and blueberry flavors! On the Breakfast Blend bag, it mentions that it has a crisp and tangy flavor.
I can guarantee that it’s crisp and tangy! I had a sip of the coffee and after I drank my first couple I could definitely taste the tang! That’s actually what made me realize I could drink this blend without any creamer. It wasn't a harsh coffee, but had a fruity taste to it.
I broke into my muffin stash and, yum, the coffee definitely enhanced the flavor in the muffin. They were definitely a delicious pairing. It was such a nice way to sit back and enjoy the quiet afternoon today. In the midst of all my chaos with work, blogging and moving, I definitely needed this break.
I think I’m going to bring over the coffee and the rest of my muffins to my friend’s house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. It’ll be a great way to spend the evening after we have a big turkey dinner! We can just sit back, drink our coffee, eat our muffins and relax while talking about all of the stuff we want to get our hands on Black Friday morning.
Do you have a particular muffin you enjoy getting from the Bakery at Walmart? I think I might grab one of the Blonde Blends and some Banana Nut muffins on my next trip! Do you go Black Friday shopping?

That bite taken out of the lemon poppyseed muffin *may* have been me. Oopsie. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure I've ever had a thing from their bakery. Yet.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to go out right now and get some of those muffins and that Starbucks blend! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI could go for some Starbucks and a lemon poppy seed muffin RIGHT.NOW.! Your picture is making my stomach growl!!
ReplyDeleteNot a coffee person here, but muffins are something I love. That one looks yummy. I did some late Black Friday shopping this year, does that count. I went out Friday later in the day. I usually shop every year and I'm in line forever, but it didn't work out this year. But I did get lucky that the item I really wanted was at Walmart still when my mom went Friday evening (they had 1 left) so she got it. My son is going to be so happy with that score!
ReplyDeleteI am totally not a coffee person however I love their food and hot chocolate! It is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI love ALL of Walmart's muffins and their donuts too! (We all fight over the caramel ones). Hubby is a Starbucks fan - he lives there!
ReplyDeleteMMMM! You need to try the Holiday Blend! It's great with anything that has cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger...I love it with a big ol' cinnamon roll!!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to go try the medium blend too!
Lemon Poppy seed muffins sounds like a terrific muffin to me! I love lemon flavor. I do enjoy hot coffee on a cold winter day and doing some holiday shopping would be a great time to have it!
