Wordless Wednesday: A tribute to Grandpa Ed

Last week, my boys' grandpa passed away. He'd started feeling sick in the fall and just couldn't get better. They were going to different doctors and not getting any good answers. Finally they went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in Dec/Jan and was told he had a fast growing, terminal lung cancer. Crazy thing is, he had no reason to even have lung cancer. =(

Two weeks ago, the boys drove from VA to IL to see Grandpa Baker, knowing it might be the last time, while hoping for the best! I'm so thankful they were able to go out there!

This past Saturday, Grandpa Ed went to be with the Lord. He is no longer suffering and he is with the One who loves him beyond measure. We'll miss you Ed! Thank you for being such a great grandpa to the boys!

  3. Makes me want to cry with you. I'm so thankful the boys were able to go see him now too, what a wonderful blessing for everyone! Also wonderful that he got to see all of his grandkids so recently; another great blessing. But the best blessing of all? Knowing we'll get to see them again someday!
Prayers for you and your family during this time of loss, and for many happy memories to ease the sadness. xoxo

  4. So sorry for your loss..I have a grandfather battling cancer right now and I am just glad I got to take my kids to go see him a couple years ago before he got diagnosed. I knew then that we were going to find out something was wrong as he looked so frail.

  6. I am so sorry for your loss. I just went to a funeral two weeks ago of my high school music teacher. He had never smoked, got sick at Christmas and learned in January it was cancer. I absolutely HATE cancer. I hate it so much I turned my blog pink (my cousin has breast cancer) until there is a cure. If you have lots of pictures of Grandpa Ed you might want to use Shutterfly and make a picture book for each of your children to help them remember him. Hugs, Teresa from NanaHood.com
