Living Healthy With Vitacost.com & Giveaway #ad

Vitacost Review
I have been slowly making changes with what I feed my boys and trying to have them take vitamins as supplements. Last year I started doing a lot more cooking from scratch and really wish we lived closer to a Whole Foods so we could have more natural and organic foods to choose from.

That’s not a viable option, but Vitacost.com came along at just the right time. My boys are getting out of school and will be needing some snacks. I think because we’re trying to eat healthier, they aren’t liking the junk filled stuff as much as they used to. It’s literally going bad in our pantry!
Vitacost
Something I’ve always wanted to change out was their “fruit snacks”. I remember eating those long ones that seemed to be made out of real fruit and then came along the “other kind” that’s full of sugar. What I found at Vitacost.com was Pure Organic Fruit & Veggie Strip. I got the strawberry/apple flavored ones to sample and I loved it. They’re thick and hit the sweet spot I need. My boys on the other hand weren’t convinced. It’s a process, remember. They’re used to the sugary stuff that we’ve always had. It’ll take time, but we’ll be experimenting with their flavors.

I’ve been eating mine in the middle of the day when I get the munchies. They’re also exactly what I want as a snack for when we go to the beach! I also decided to step out of my food box and try their Himalania Dark Chocolate Goji Berries. Yea, not a big dark chocolate fan and I had NO clue what a Goji berry was. I figured, what the heck, I didn’t have anything to lose.

Goji Berries
I tell you what, they became my work day snack. I would have a handful or two (not big handfuls) and I would be satisfied until lunch. First I didn’t have that bitter dark chocolate taste and the Goji berry was really good. I actually ate the chocolate off of one so I could see what it looked like. It was this long reddish colored dried piece of fruit. I’m interested as to what this thing looks like before it’s dried. They quickly became my favorite snack and they hit the spot! I forgot to mention, I didn’t offer these to the boys. lol I just didn’t want to waste one of them in case the boys weren’t thrilled. =)
Multi-vitamin gummies
And now, here’s the kicker! I haven’t had gummy vitamins for the boys for a while now…and I know they definitely need supplements. The issue I had was Buddy. Sigh…he never likes eating these things. Eh-ver. I kid you not, this kid has complained every time I’ve tried a new gummy vitamin. Doodle, he loves taking them and does so every day. So, you can imagine my surprise on the second day having the Vitacost Multi-Vitamin Gummies in the house and hearing Buddy say, “mom can I have one this morning?” My response was, “Excuse me?” I was literally in shock. I thought he was messing with me. He has since, on his own, had one every single day…probably two. They’re supposed to have two a day. I leave them on the kitchen counter and they get them on their own.

So, I was actually going to get myself some more Goji berries, but I think I’ll have to place an entire order to replace everything we’ve already finished (aside from the vitamins). They’ve got a fantastic selection of healthy products, too much to really list here, but they have so many options for personal use and consumption, pets, and for the home. I also like their micro sites that give you some great tips and information!
