A Crucial Catch Day With The NFL #NFLPink

You might recall that back in March, I had to have two mammograms. My first one they saw something, but weren't sure what it was. The second time...ooooeeee mama, that bad boy hurt. What they saw on the first mammogram was to the very left of my left breast closer to my armpit. That meant they had to tweak my body in a way that didn't seem possible. But the tech got it and I just gritted my teeth.

Those few moments of pain were 100% worth it to find out that it was a cyst. It's been painful lately, so I have to make the choice of whether or not I want them to aspirate. It's not a health issue, just uncomfortable so there's no rush on my part.

Not all women receive the same results.

Have you been watching the NFL season like I have since August? You may have noticed all of the pink they're wearing! On October 25th, the NFL and American Cancer Society will team up for the first-ever A Crucial Catch Day in cities across the country to raise awareness about early detection and screenings.

If you visit the site, you can sign up to get a personal screening reminder and learn more about what the NFL and the American Cancer Society is doing to help provide breast cancer education and free or low-cost screenings within specific underserved communities.

Have you ever had a mammogram? Will you commit to having one done this year?

My mother in law just finished radiation due to breast cancer and my father's mother died from it. Though it does not run on my mother's side I worry about it, but since I am only 30 they do not tell me to get mammograms yet.

I hate Mammograms. I do them, but I don't like them. I heard that there is a better way (sonogram or something) and I'm hoping that gets popular because being tortured every year is awful! I'm glad everything turned out ok with yours.

I have not had one before, but my mom has had cyst before that ended up being nothing. I need to be checked.

I loved seeing the NFL players in pink! What a great cause! I haven't had a mammogram this year, but I need to. Thanks for the little "push".

I have not had a mammogram - but I am not 'of the age' they recommend. I WILL get it done as soon as it's recommended.

I have yet to have a mammogram, but I am about to start. We do have a history of breast cancer in my family so it's always good to start early.
I LOVE that the NFL is going PINK! Great way to show their support!

I haven't had a mammogram yet but I know they are just around the corner! I noticed that the NFL was sporting pink and how AWESOME is that?? Seriously nothing is more amazing then seeing a bunch of tough guys supporting such an awesome cause. My aunt had breast cancer and so I know the potential risk is there! I will definitely be getting screened. Glad they were able to find that Cyst so you know how to handle and take care of it.

I like football but I LOVE that they are supporting breast cancer awareness. It's so important! I'm glad yours was just a cyst!

I need to get one ASAP! I get one every year but this year I am having a hard time fitting it in my schedule. Your post reminded me that it's so important that I make the time. And I'm a huge NFL fan and yes I did notice all the pink!! Go NFL!!! So glad they are doing this and bringing awareness to something that is so important to women's and men's health!

They saw something on my very first mammogram. I had to go back for a second mammogram and an ultrasound. Fortunately it all came back OK. Mammograms are fun, but it is only uncomfortable for a minute and it is totally worth it!

I haven't yet had one, but I think I have a couple more years! I did have an ultrasound when I was in college and it was super nerve wracking.

Glad that it was just a cyst, but I know deciding what to do next isn't fun.

I had a mammogram due to feeling an itchy lump in my right breast. Scans found absolutely nothing. 2 years later I still have the issue and I went back for a more indepth 3D scan. The Dr this time told me I do not have dense breast tissue so we see everything there. More than likely hormones are making my natural breast tissue itchy and I am just feeling nodules of the tissue. It's so weird!

I've never had a mammogram but know how important it is and how I should do it very soon. Cancer runs in both sides of my family, so far no one that I know of has had breast cancer. Glad yours was just a cyst.
