Since we moved to the area, we haven't been down to Washington, D.C.! Every time we'd go to Virginia for Christmas, we'd meet my brother and take the Metro to the National Mall to visit the museums. On a lark, I decided to take my daughter down there while she was here for almost a week.
As we headed down, we decided to check out the United States Botanic Garden. I was pretty excited because even though I'm a novice, I love plants so much! It was such a wonderland of greenery! I was in heaven.
I didn't realize until I just looked that they have a whole host of classes there as well. One of the things I wish I could do is their open house to see their greenhouse! I'll have to be sure to keep an eye on their calendar so I can go the next time they have one.
I think our favorite room was the orchids! I got some good pics, but many I felt like I just couldn't capture their beauty. I mean, they were just so stunning!
Because my daughter loves succulents
Can you believe the detail?
Don't you just love the vibrant color?
I think this next one is one of my favorites. Just something about those tendrils hanging down...
This one was so interesting. It was as long as my forearm!
I thought I took a photo of the name of this plant, but I didn't. It's SO incredibly soft!
The way this plant unfurled was so amazing! I just loved it!
This bamboo was hard as a rock and it felt like ceramic.
Have you ever visited a botanic garden?
